Qalaa Holdings Founder Ahmed Heikal Showcases GlassRock at Iron and Steel Industries Exhibition

The Qalaa Holdings subsidiary, a specialized manufacturer of glass and rock wool, has began supplying a number of national strategic projects in the New Administrative Capital and Upper Egypt

Qalaa Holdings (CCAP.CA on the Egyptian Stock Exchange), an African leader in energy and infrastructure, announces the participation of its subsidiary, GlassRock Insulation Company (GlassRock), at the 11th annual Iron and Steel Industries Exhibition held at the Cairo International Exhibition Center between 27 February and 29 February 2020. Dr. Ahmed Heikal, Founder and Chairman of Qalaa Holdings was present at the exhibition to support the team in showcasing the subsidiary’s capacity to provide affordable insulation materials which contribute to energy efficiency in the construction sector and combatting global energy and climate challenges.

GlassRock is Egypt’s only producer of glass and rock wool, insulation materials that can be used across a number of industrial sectors. Established at a total investment cost of USD 70 million, the company was established to produce environmentally sustainable solutions for an array of sectors. It has a production capacity of 50,000 tons including 30,000 tons of rock wool and 20,000 tons of glass wool each year.

Heikal expressed pride in the milestones GlassRock has achieved since inauguration in May 2012, saying: “GlassRock’s operations are in line with Qalaa Holdings strategy to promote sustainable economic growth through the conservation of energy and water consumption; enhancement of local manufacturing capabilities using Egyptian materials that meet global standards; and the positioning of Egypt as an export hub, with a special focus on Africa.
